Just thought I would write and let you know that the blogging has been abit slim lately. Whether it is Easter with Family, taking a group of students from Dimension Four to Edmonton (in one day) or maybe its because our California Breakaway trip got back on Sunday and on Greg Benson’s last week here at Youth For Christ we must finish making the trip video. Either way, I am swamped and therefore, blogging has taken aside. And did I mention we have to finish the video by the end of this weekend as Greg will no longer be with us next week. However, I think keeping busy is helping to keep my mind off the stresses of becoming a dad. I can’t wait. Hopefully I will get through the next few stressful weeks and I will have something interesting to blog, like pictures of the new Grunau.
After seeing response to a game like this on another blog I read called The Eagle & Child I thought I would steal the idea. Without using google try to be the first to identify the follow quote. I decided to start with an easier one.
“That’s a Smith & Wesson, and you’ve had your six”
Enjoy and may the best man or women win.
Update: While some of you came close to getting the answer right, and I realized that this might not be as easy as I had thought. The quote came from Dr.No. In context, Professor Dent tries to kill James Bond and after running out of bullets James Bond delivers the line and then proceeds to kill Professor Dent by shooting him twice with his Walter PPK. This was a rather controversial scene as 007 was killing in cold blood and even more controversial was having 007 shoot him twice. There, now your 007 knowledge has just been stepped up a notch. Look forward to more movie trivia coming soon.
About the same time my wife got pregnant I decided that I would grow a beard
and keep it until the baby arrives. While the baby hasn’t been born yet, I
have decided to experiment with some new looks over the past few days. I
call the second look the Urban Cowboy and the last one, “The Gunter.”
Thought everyone should see how awesome I look. Vote for your favorite now!
As a soon to be new parent I have been looking at tech toys made for parents, okay, made for Dad’s who love spending money on tech. This may be one of the “best” gadgets for parents I have seen yet. I think everyone should have one of these. Check it out, its called the “Why Cry Monitor.” It brought a smile to my face anyways.
Lately I have been thinking about the recent findings regarding the discovery of a supposed “Gospel of Judas.” While I am not saying I believe these writings I do think it is food for thought. I read a very interesting article on “The Complex Christ” about Judas. Read it here
So many of you may have already read my wife’s blog which tells how we discovered last week that we are going to be having a girl. That’s right, I am going to be a father to a girl. Not sure what that means, but it could include many dresses, tea parties, dolls, and scaring future boyfriends. Although I think it could include some sports and otherwise guys things. After all, she will be my wife’s child as well, and she wasn’t exactly the first girl jumping to wear pink when she was younger. I guess I will have to fine some girly looking basketball uniforms. Hmmmm…which NBA or College team has the most girly looking colors…if you have any suggestions please let me know.
After being told we where having a girl, it seems very anticlimatic, afterall it wasn’t the doctor announcing, “It’s a Girl,” although that will come yet. I am glad that we know already especially since it came at a surprise that we were even able to find out. It was kinda of a bonus that we found out when we didn’t expect to till the big day. All I can say is that I can’t wait to lay eyes on my daughter for the first time. Soon I will have two princess’ in my life, although I am abit worried that it means two Queens in my life. (I guess my Dad had three Queens to worry about so he probably has some good advice) But in seriousness, I feel so blessed. Just less than 9 months ago Dawn and I where eagerly waiting for a phone call to let us know whether the procedure was successful. Those three years of dealing with infertility I believe are helping us to see how blessed we are. Knowing that we are having a girl has just brought the reality of being a father that much closer. I can’t wait!!
